BROTHER'S TRUCK KILLS MAN
CRUSHED AGAINST BUILDING

Over-River Man Dies Half -Hour After Odd Accident
~~~~~~~~~~~
DUE TO SKIDDING
~~~~~~~~~
Wedged between a house and a heavily loaded coal truck driven by his brother, George Erb, 43 of 53 Forest avenue, East New Kensington, was fatally injured yesterday afternoon at 3:30. He died a half-hour later in Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington. The fatality occurred at the home of Cherry Reimer, in the Leechburg road, New Kensington. George Erb had gone with his brother, John P. Erb, of Leechburg, who was to deliver a load of coal at the home.
Skids on Ice
He got off the truck, and standing behind it, held a block in his hand which he intended to place under a wheel, should it be necessary, as the truck was backed down an icy grade toward a cellar window. Suddenly the machine started to skid and before the driver could gain control the unfortunate man had been pinned against the house.
Ralph Finn, who lives nearby, aided in freeing the man after which he was hurried to the hospital. Erb had lived in the New Kensington district all of his life with the exception of 19 years spent in Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Junior Order United American Mechanics. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Margaret Cyphert Erb; two daughters, four sons, his father Henry, of Parnassus, five brothers and three sisters. Four grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held in the home Sunday afternoon at 3:30 with Rev. Samuel F. Ford, of the Arnold M. E. Church, in charge. Burial will take place in Union cemetery.
