Calvary with my brother over Thanksgiving. I was unable to find anything that could be identified as belonging to Anthony or Mary. If they turn out we will shortly have pictures of all the marked Cyphert graves there. There are two large stones in the Cyphert section,one is for William Cresswell Orr and his wife Mary Elizabeth Eshbaugh. For some reason the name on the other large stone (at the back near the large pine tree) escapes my memory at the moment but the picture will fix that when developed. Around the large stones are the graves of their offspring(well I know the ones for W.C. Orr are, it is an assumption for the one I can't remember). As you know most of the older stones are either difficult or impossible to read. There are a couple of stones that are difficult to identify, they appear to be either broken headstones or section markers. There is also an Allison section but none of those graves are identifiedby name, it's just a group of 4 'edge' markers labeled Allison with 5 (Ithink) graves inside them which are only identified by initials (and, of course,I forgot to take any writing stuff with me so I couldn't write them down, we just have to hope the pictures turn out). It seems that someone should have a map of Mt. Calvary, how else wouldthey know what plots are there? The question is - does the record still existand who would have it? I don't remember where I got it but the entry I have for C.E. Cyphertlists Crossroads Cemetary in Kingsville as his burial location. Since C.E. is buried at Mt. Calvary the implication is that it has been known by thatname as well at some point (or my record is just wrong, that happens far too often). I find the name a bit confusing, Mt. Calvary isn't really at a crossroad. It's on a little road-ette (for lack of a better term) thatgoes between a couple of fields off the road that connects CL School Road (the road from 322 to Kingsville that goes past Clarion-Limestone school) and322 down near where the drive-in and Red&White store used to be. Another question came up while pondering this. Mt. Calvary is not, as far as I know, a Catholic cemetary. If Anthony and Mary were Catholic couldthey be buried there? I don't have any documentation on when the 'switch' occurred but at least by Curtis Elmer and Edith my branch were no longer Catholic. One might guess that since the section with my branch in it inMt. Calvary started with W.C. Orr and his wife that it was the Orr's that precipitated the change. We do know that Edith was not at all happy whentwo of her daughters (Cora Mae and Alda) married Catholics. I will post the pictures (those that come out anyway) when we get themback if there is any interest in them. Bill.
• Anecdote*: Curtis Elmer Cyphert, "C.E." was born February 18, 1865 in PA, the third child of William Rolston Cyphert. He married Edith Jane Orr on May 27, 1902 in a ceremony at Brookville, PA. Edith Orr, the daughter of William and Mary Eshbaugh Orr, was born in 1874. The family home was at Kingsville, where facilities included an outhouse, an inside hand-pump for water and a functional natural gas well in the side yard, which provided the house with energy. There were several other operational wells on other portions of the property. C.E. was close to a cousin, A.A. Cyphert, who left Pennsylvania as an accomplished oil driller, and we presume these men to have learned and practiced their trade in western Pennsylvania.
